Regulatory Status
Regulatory compliance
As an industry organisation, Formacare provides a platform for an open and constructive dialogue between manufacturers, downstream users and key regulators at both National and European levels. Formacare works actively with European policymakers, to help shape a regulatory framework that promotes the highest level of safety for the industry and its consumers, based on a fair and balanced assessment of the latest scientific evidence.
Extensive research into the manufacturing processes, uses and safety of formaldehyde have already been carried out; it is an ongoing process and Formacare works closely with leading scientists and academics to further this work and ensure the industry is kept up to date with all the latest developments.
Within the European Union, formaldehyde is manufactured and used in accordance with European regulations such as:
Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical (REACH)
Classification, Labelling and Packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP)
European and National HSE legislations
Biocides Directive
